The party, having survived the trials of the Ziggurat, found themselves separated in its treacherous depths. Rupert became lost in the darkness behind the group, while the others discovered a massive, seemingly bottomless pit blocking their path. Arraphesu bravely attempted to climb across the sixty-foot gap, carefully finding footholds on the magical stone walls that resisted their attempts at manipulation. She successfully reached the other side, but before the others could follow, a stone wall began to rise from the pit, threatening to cut their rope and trap them. Despite Arraphesu's magical efforts to slow the wall, the rope was severed, and she was forced to let go, disappearing into the darkness below. Bones and Cyrran also fell into the pit, tumbling through the void for what felt like an eternity before gently landing in separate corridors.

Each member of the party then experienced vivid, personalized illusions that forced them to confront their deepest fears and pasts. Yomidrogo encountered an illusory Kailyn, whom he perceived as the enemy responsible for the destruction of his village and the death of his family. Consumed by rage and grief, he attacked her with powerful magic, believing he was finally avenging his people. Arraphesu found herself face-to-face with an alternate version of her brother, Ravikiel, and a younger version of herself who claimed Ravikiel as her brother, presenting a reality where her family remained whole and untouched by tragedy. Bones experienced flashes of his forgotten past, feeling a deep connection to an illusory home and family, a sense of belonging he had long been denied. Cyrran encountered an illusory version of himself and an injured child, struggling to discern reality from the temple's cruel tricks.

The party eventually reunited in a chaotic chamber, but the illusions persisted, leading to a dangerous confrontation. Yomidrogo, still under the temple's influence, continued to attack Kailyn, rendering her unconscious with a devastating blast of fire. Rupert, confused by the fighting, attempted to intervene but only added to the chaos. Cyrran desperately tried to restrain Yomidrogo, shouting at him to recognize his friends, while Arraphesu, believing Yomidrogo to be a threat, attacked him. Bones, perceiving his companions as enemies of nature, unleashed a powerful moonbeam of radiant energy upon them before realizing his mistake.

In a desperate attempt to free Yomidrogo from his mental torment, Bones used his unique abilities to enter Yomidrogo's mind. Inside, he found a burning forest shrouded in a pervasive purple haze, and a younger Yomidrogo trapped in a magical cell. Bones broke the cell open, and as the younger Yomidrogo was freed, the purple fog began to recede. A giant, mysterious eye appeared in the sky, declaring "freedom" before vanishing, leaving Yomidrogo's mind clear. Yomidrogo snapped back to reality, horrified to discover he had attacked Kailyn and injured his friends. The party, battered and confused, finally escaped the Ziggurat's illusory chambers and took a much-needed rest.

During their recovery, the party discovered several powerful magical items scattered throughout the Ziggurat, including protective amulets, enchanted helms, and a necklace imbued with restorative magic. They also delved into the mystery of the orbs they possessed, theorizing that they were connected to the children of ancestral gods and held immense power, potentially capable of influencing emotions and even brainwashing. They experimented with the purple orb, passing it between members and observing its effects, noting that it seemed to glow brighter when held by those experiencing trauma or emotional distress. Ari felt the orb asking her a question about lying to herself, accompanied by a haunting image of Rayne.

The party decided to repair the broken statue of Auril in the village square, believing it might be connected to the orbs and the arcane ley lines that traversed the land. Kailyn and Bones painstakingly mended the statue, and Ari used her restorative magic on it. When they placed the purple orb into the statue's hand, it began to glow, and Rupert, using his arcane knowledge, detected a strengthening of ley lines pointing towards the Zilaphelian Kingdom and upwards towards the sky. They theorized that the orbs, when placed on their respective statues, might connect and unlock something significant. However, they also realized that someone on the other end of the ley line would now know they possessed two orbs, prompting them to remove the orb and take the statue's hand with them.

During their long rest, the party experienced unsettling dreams and visions. Yomidrogo heard the voice of Tassarion commending him, suggesting a deeper connection or manipulation. Bones dreamed of the mysterious eye entity instructing him to recruit Rupert and revealing knowledge of the third orb's location. Rupert had a terrifying nightmare of a tentacled horror with screaming human heads emerging from the waters beneath Droshdech, consuming him, hinting at a deeper danger lurking beneath the island. The party also discovered that the Staff of the Forgotten One, a powerful artifact Bones had attuned to, was missing. Yomidrogo confessed to having given the staff to Bones without his knowledge, believing it would be safer with him, but now it was gone, and their attempts to locate it proved fruitless.

The party returned to Alenez to resupply and prepare for their journey north to Stonerane. Arraphesu purchased a new rapier and bow from a skilled blacksmith, while Kailyn acquired a crystal ball and various healing potions from a quirky alchemist. Rupert secured a crystal ball on loan from a half-orc shopkeeper named Caraba. They also noted Zarbella's unusual quietness, as she seemed to be processing the events in the Ziggurat and questioning the hag's influence on her past. The party discussed their next steps, deciding to follow the ley line's direction towards the Zilaphelian Kingdom and their original quest to reach Stonerane.

Upon reaching their boat, Curly, the ship's captain, informed them of a dire situation: a naval blockade of over fifty ships had formed in the channel, preventing their departure from the island. The blockade appeared to be a conflict between the Veurim Empire and the rest of the continent, and the party realized they were trapped. As they prepared to navigate this new obstacle, Cyrran spotted a mysterious woman standing on the bow of a ship at the port, looking directly at him. Suddenly, he felt a deep, burning pain on his face, a chilling omen of the dangers that awaited them as they sailed into the Iridium Channel.
