Auril
Also known as The Frostmaiden
Auril, known as the Frostmaiden, is the goddess of cold and of light: of winter and frost, and of the clear light and truth that cold air is said to carry. She is not formally affiliated with any of the established religions of Canaan, and her worship is local rather than organised.
Status in Canaan
Auril is not recognised by any of the established faiths of Canaan. She does not appear on the endorsed lists of any recognised religion. Outside the Zilaphelian Kingdom, where every god but the four endorsed by the Crown is barred from public religious endorsement, she is not formally banned.
Worship
Devotion to Auril survives chiefly in a few communities on Droshdech, where she is honoured as a goddess of light and truth, while on the mainland she is better known, where she is known at all, as the Frostmaiden of winter.
A few of the oldest texts pair Auril with Oreous, a goddess of light now largely forgotten, as twin powers of light and dark.
