Crossroads Chaos

The party continued their journey along the Bronze Track toward Easthills, encountering various wildlife including squirrels, birds, and a lone wolf during their travels. As they progressed, the terrain shifted from green grassy areas to the dry landscape of the upper Mediata Savannah. Despite some navigation difficulties that added extra time to their journey, they eventually arrived at the bustling Delilao Crossroads, where all four routes of the Bronze Track converged into a temporary marketplace filled with colorful market stalls and merchant wagons.

At the crossroads, Yomidrogo sought out a book repair service and found Alara's Epistle and Emporium, a cozy purple tent run by an elderly elf named Alara. She agreed to repair his damaged medicine book for 10 gold pieces and offered various scrolls for sale, including a valuable Alter Self scroll for 275 gold. After consulting with his companions, the party decided to sell their Arcane Lock scroll to Alara for 300 gold pieces, providing them with much-needed funds for their adventures.

While browsing Alara's shop, Yomidrogo researched historical texts and found a book by Herro Adlen from the Ximian Empire period that mentioned plans to remove elves from forests. Bones searched for information about tieflings and necromancy, finding some relevant mentions in various historical texts. However, when Yomidrogo attempted to negotiate for the expensive Alter Self scroll, he impulsively cast a sleep spell on Alara, accidentally knocking out both the shopkeeper and Bones in the process.

Panicking over their unconscious friend and the sleeping shopkeeper, the party decided to rob Alara's shop, stealing back their Arcane Lock scroll, a Healing Word scroll, and other valuable items. When a customer entered the shop, they successfully deceived her by pretending to be employees, even leaving a fake note to explain Alara's absence. They managed to escape the shop without being caught, though their criminal activities were just beginning.

The party then visited Emmeg's Osseous Ornaments, a disturbing bone shop run by an orc named Emmeg who became unnaturally interested in Bones' skeleton body. When Emmeg offered hundreds of gold pieces for Bones' actual bones and became increasingly threatening, Yomidrogo cast another sleep spell to protect his friend. This caused another commotion when a customer discovered the unconscious shopkeeper, leading to the arrival of guards who began investigating the disturbances.

Two guards led the party away from the crossroads to a secluded forest area, where they revealed themselves to be corrupt officials demanding bribes. When the party refused to pay, one guard stabbed Bones with a dagger, triggering a violent confrontation. The ensuing battle saw Bones transform into an oxen, Kailyn kill one guard with a frostbite spell, and Yomidrogo brutally execute the other with a fire bolt before crushing his skull underfoot. They looted the dead guards' uniforms and gold before fleeing the scene.

Using his acting skills, Yomidrogo successfully impersonated the mayor of Easthills to deceive a remaining guard at the crossroads, convincing him that no threats were present in the area. The party then visited Pippa's Wandering Wagon, where Yomidrogo's violin performance earned them a discount on maps of Easthills and Port Wolifer for 35 gold pieces. Despite considering expensive healing potions, they decided to save their money and prepare to leave the crossroads.

As night fell, the party began their journey toward Easthills, traveling through darkness with their repaired cart. During their travels, they spotted elven scouts watching them from a distance but continued without incident. Around 4 AM, their cart wheel broke, forcing them to stop and use mending spells to repair it. However, as they worked on the repairs, four elven scouts emerged from the darkness and began firing arrows at them.

The ambush caught the party off guard, with one arrow striking Fe in the knee while the others missed their targets. Kailyn attempted to fight back with frostbite and eldritch blast spells but struggled with the darkness affecting her aim. In a desperate move, Yomidrogo cast his sleep spell once more, rolling an impressive amount of magical energy that successfully knocked out two of the four attacking scouts. With their enemies reduced and their cart repaired, the party prepared to flee into the night as the remaining scouts gave chase, ending their eventful and crime-filled day at the Delilao Crossroads with yet another dangerous encounter.
