Alenez

Alenez is a bustling port town on the island of Droshdech, situated on the coast facing the Iridium Channel. It serves as a significant point of arrival and departure for maritime traffic visiting the island, handling both passenger and cargo trade. The town is characterised by its jungle setting, misty atmosphere, and a culture that mainland visitors tend to find less conventional than their own.

Geography

Alenez is located on the coast of Droshdech, facing the Iridium Channel — the waterway separating the island from the western coast of mainland Canaan and the territory of the Veurim Empire. The town is surrounded by dense jungle. The port of Saltin lies on the north coast of the island.

Economy

Alenez functions as a major port for Droshdech, handling both cargo and passenger traffic. Ships travelling through the Iridium Channel use Alenez as a scheduled stop for loading cargo — including jungle timber, tropical spices, jungle medicinals, and woven jungle goods — and picking up passengers. Timber yards, spice and medicinal merchants, chandlers and smiths make up much of the town's trade, alongside the shops that serve visiting crews.

The town's economy reflects Droshdech's broader trade relationship with Arakcadia and its position as the island's primary point of contact with the wider maritime routes of western Canaan.
