Dassea Shallows

The Dassea Shallows is a lake in the southern Mediata Savannah, located near the town of Easthills at the base of the Itumue Mountains. The lake serves as a critical freshwater source for both the population and the agricultural operations of Easthills and its surrounding area, and its presence was one of the principal reasons for the town's founding during the early New Age.

Geography

The Dassea Shallows lies in the terrain near Easthills, in the south-eastern reaches of the Mediata Savannah where the land begins to rise toward the Itumue Mountains. The lake contributes to the fertility of the surrounding land, which is considered productive by the standards of the savannah region. The combination of reliable water from the Dassea Shallows and the sheltered terrain around Easthills' hills moderates the extremes of savannah conditions and supports relatively stable agricultural yields.

Significance

The proximity of the Dassea Shallows is one of the key factors that made the site of Easthills attractive to New Age settlers from Arakcadia. The lake provides water for the town's population, its civic infrastructure, and its extensive farming operations — particularly those based in the Farmer's Pride district. The agricultural output sustained by the Dassea Shallows includes grains, vegetables, fruit, and livestock products, much of which is traded through the Markets district and sold to merchants travelling the Bronze Track.
