Bronze Track

Also known as The Bronze Track

The Bronze Track is the main overland road of the Mediata Savannah and one of the most important transport routes in Canaan. It threads through Arakcadia and connects the city-state with settlements to the south, including the frontier town of Lyikdia, as well as with branching routes leading toward the eastern mountains, the southern borderlands, and other central Canaanese towns. The Bronze Track carries the full range of people and commerce that the Mediata Savannah produces: merchants, travellers, officials, pilgrims, scholars, guards, messengers, and caravans all use it as their primary overland corridor.

In its southern reaches a side road branches off the Track towards the south-west and crosses the Veurim River; that crossing has been blocked by Arakcadia to restrict access to and from Veurim territory. This blockade is a significant geopolitical act, physically limiting overland movement between the emerging empire and the central Mediata Savannah.

Route

Northern stretch

The Bronze Track passes through or near Arakcadia, connecting the city-state with its surrounding agricultural regions and nearby settlements in the Mediata Savannah. From Arakcadia, it extends southward through the central savannah, passing through or near various Congress-aligned towns and agricultural districts.

Southern stretch

The Track's southern stretch eventually reaches Lyikdia, the last point on the Bronze Track — the last stop of controlled civilisation before the Destitute Lands. Lyikdia is situated in the deep south of the Mediata Savannah, and its position on the Bronze Track is central to its identity as a frontier settlement. The Track ends at Lyikdia, after which the lawless southern region begins.

Veurim River crossing and blockade

Before the Track reaches Lyikdia, a side road branches off towards the south-west and crosses the Veurim River into Veurim territory. Arakcadia has blocked this crossing, physically preventing regular overland movement between Veurim and the central Mediata Savannah by way of the Bronze Track. This blockade is an explicitly political act, taken as part of Arakcadia's broader policy of discouraging travel to and from the Veurim Empire and restricting the Empire's overland expansion northward.

Economic and political significance

The Bronze Track is the single most important overland route in the Mediata Savannah, and Arakcadia's control of it is a core expression of the Arakcadian Congress's authority over the region. The road is maintained by the Office of Roads and Measures, one of Arakcadia's major civic bureaus, which sets standards for road construction, maintenance, and official distances across Congress territory.

The Track's extension to Lyikdia in the far south represents the effective limit of Arakcadian road infrastructure. The Congress's willingness to maintain a road all the way to the frontier reflects the value it places on connection to even its southernmost affiliated settlements.

Management

The Bronze Track is an Arakcadian-managed road. The Office of Roads and Measures oversees its maintenance, survey, and official cartographic documentation. Its route is included on official Arakcadian Cartographic Office maps of the Mediata Savannah.
