Hapolstein

Hapolstein is a settlement in the river valley at the foothills of Dalthos' Peak, the highest mountain on the continent. It sits within the Enchanted Rivers river system, which descends from the Itumue Mountains and flows southward and westward through the central Canaanese river network toward Arakcadia Bay. The town occupies a position north-central in the continent's geography, in the transitional zone between the open terrain of the Mediata Savannah and the mountain foothills that build toward the Itumue range.

Hapolstein is one of the settlements in the loose clustering of towns that surrounds the upper reaches of the Enchanted Rivers — alongside Valam, Luna, Shadowfeln, Arnelan, and Celrea — all positioned in the river corridor between the mountain base and the savannah.

Geography

Hapolstein sits at the base of Dalthos' Peak's foothills, on or near the river valley that channels the Enchanted Rivers southward from the mountains. The Enchanted Rivers are a large and complex river system that originates in the Itumue Mountains and feeds the forests and savannah systems of central Canaan. Hapolstein's position in this river corridor gives it reliable water access and places it at the junction between the mountain country above and the settled corridor leading south toward Arakcadia Bay.

The Xeamian Ruins — the remnants of the old Xeamian Empire — lie in this general region, with Valam and Celrea among the only surviving towns from the former empire.

Access

The Shadowed Passage — the mountain road that branches from the Bronze Track near the Xeamian Ruins and ascends toward Mjovadalr — passes near the approach to Dalthos' Peak and is accessible from the Hapolstein vicinity. A treacherous unnamed mountain pass also lies near the peak's approach, relevant to anyone attempting to travel through this section of the mountain range.

The Bronze Track, the main overland road of Canaan, runs through the central savannah and serves as the primary north–south artery for the continent, passing not through Hapolstein directly but accessible from the river corridor settlements.
